Paul Pelletier

CNF is thrilled to welcome Paul back to the CNF team after a decade-long hiatus! Paul's journey with CNF began in 2004 when Duffield Hall was initially constructed. Hailing from Elmira, New York, Paul was hired as a Cleanroom technician, a role he filled for 10 years. During this time, he played a crucial role in installing semiconductor equipment, which included semiconductor process piping, chemical drains, gas systems, and toxic gas monitoring, among other tasks. Additionally, he was instrumental in various forms of lab repairs and equipment relocation from the old lab to the new, seamlessly integrating equipment with the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Paul’s mechanical affinities trace back to his childhood days spent repairing automobiles, a skill set that later extended to his time in the military. Serving in the Marine Corps from January 1982 to March 1987, Paul further honed his expertise in equipment maintenance, notably as a helicopter crew chief and Collateral Duty Inspector. His responsibilities included spearheading maintenance and inspection efforts for Marine Corps UH-1 and AH-1 helicopters.

Following his military service, Paul joined Dakota Systems in Massachusetts, where he handled critical aspects of equipment, including piping installations, and further deepening his familiarity with semiconductor technology.

Paul joined CNF as a Cleanroom Technician, a role he held from 2004 to 2014. During his decade-long tenure, Pelletier contributed significantly to CNF's growth and evolution, particularly during the new lab's construction phase and subsequent adjustments. He played a critical role in equipment installation (including the ASML Stepper), semiconductor processes, and equipment repairs, facilitating CNF's transition from the original Knight Lab to the newly built 17,000 square foot cleanroom facility in Duffield Hall.

Following his time with CNF, Paul transitioned to a position as the Cornell College of Engineering facility coordinator, overseeing facilities such as Olin Hall, Snee Hall, and Carpenter Hall. And then Paul joined Odyssey Semiconductors as the Facilities Director, overseeing semiconductor equipment installations.

Coming full circle, Paul has now returned to CNF at the request of a colleague. His re-recruitment coincides with increased funding from NORDtech and the acquisition of new tools. Already, Paul has embarked on tasks such as relocating the AJA Sputter Systems and replacing the YES Polyimide Oven, with plans to install newly acquired NORDtech tools throughout the facility. His expertise and dedication continue to be invaluable assets to CNF as we embark on this exciting phase of growth and innovation.
