NanoDay 2023 was a Riot!

The Cornell NanoScale Facility partnered with our great friends at the Micron Foundation and the Museum of Science & Technology (MOST) to give the 5th graders at Millard Fillmore Elementary School a fun look at the world of nanotechnology!

We explored nanorobotics, photonics, materials science and micro particles in a fun and interactive one hour demo session. My favorite part was the “is it science or is it magic” part where I blew the audience’s mind with a gallium spoon and shape memory alloy wire!

CNF also provided four nano experiments for the kids to do in class along with Nanooze magazines for the school library. The Micron Foundation and MoST put the icing on the cake by giving every 5th grade student and the educators at the school a free pass to visit the new Micron “Deconstructed” exhibit at the MOST in Syracuse, NY!

Our sincere thanks go out to our partners for helping us give these kids an amazing experience!
